Draught Surveys

Carrying out a draught survey is a method for determining the weight of a ship and thus the cargo loaded / discharged by measuring its displacement before and after operations, based on Archimedes’ principle.

To do this requires careful noting of the draught marks, determining the water density, and making adjustment for ballast, fuel, and other consumables, using the stability book
